It is axiomatic that many high income investors in the past several years viewed real estate investments as virtually bullet-proof.  They may have understandably felt that by investing in a residential or commercial real estate project, they were improving our Country, especially since everyone involved seemed to be wholesome and honest, and had integrity, so as to be reliable and trustworthy.  Sadly, this may not have been the case.

Lately, these investors might have a different view of real estate investments, and it seems likely that they do.  Many see a total loss on their investment, yet, they also do not see accountability on the part of the people who they trusted.  On the contrary, they suspect that the people they trusted may be "looking out for number 1."

It is axiomatic that many recent real estate projects or promoters have "taken a bullet."  What can be done?  In the present environment, there are two possible reactions for investors, namely, "play dead," or "come out swinging."  Investors in this dilemma should hold their fingers to their pulse and decide, based upon what they feel, which of the two they are.  Investors who would prefer not to be declared casualties should show their metal by picking up a weapon and moving to the attack.
